A single volunteer can make a difference in the life of young adults. Mentoring, transporting and supervising are just a few services available for volunteers to aid in the healthy development of youths in our communities. These fundamental resources will help prepare and guide them in the future.

Supervise and support children who have been brought to court and need to meet with their attorney and/or need to be present at court. Interested volunteers must be age 18 or older. Supervise and support children who have been placed into protective custody and who are awaiting placement into foster care. Interested volunteers must be age 18 or older. The Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) was developed in 1965 and was intended to enable limited income senior citizens to volunteer with children who demonstrate exceptional needs. The Sacramento division has strived to fulfill this mission, to recruit and train limited-income seniors ages 60 or older, and to provide twenty hours per week of one-on-one attention to special needs children. Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) promotes volunteerism and helps people over age 55 find their perfect volunteer niche among approximately 100 affiliated public or non-profits agencies. RSVP volunteers work in a variety of settings with children such as assisting teachers in schools, mentoring youth, assisting children at the crisis nursery and serving as docents for children visiting the zoo, nature and science centers and history museums. Therapeutic Recreation Services (TRS) provides skill-training and recreational opportunities for individuals within the community with various disabilities. Volunteers are utilized as chaperones at dances, day trips and community events such as The Great Race® and events in the park. Volunteers have the opportunity to coach Special Olympics teams and are class instructors in your area of interest.
