Outstanding Volunteers of 2011 Recognized by Board of Supervisors on April 17, 2012

Value of volunteer service in 2011 a record-breaking $18 Million

Greeting visitors at the Sacramento International Airport, caring for pets awaiting adoption, mentoring youth, restoring natural habitats, and sharing gardening tips are just some of the jobs performed by volunteers throughout Sacramento County. On Tuesday, April 17, 2012, in honor of National Volunteer Week, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors recognized 15 individuals and groups as the Outstanding Volunteers of 2011. Since 2004, more than 75,000 volunteers and interns have donated approximately six million hours of service to Sacramento County. The monetary value is estimated at $113 million.
