​Computerworld Laureate Award

Computerworld honored the Department of Human Assistance with a Laureate Award at the CalWIN Consortium for the creation and use of IT to promote and advance the public welfare, benefit society and change the world for the better. 

Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award - National Purchasing Institute

The Department of General Services’ Contract and Purchasing Services Division was recognized for excellence in public procurement based on national criteria that measures innovation, professional development, eProcurement, productivity and leadership by National Purchasing​ Institute.  

Internal Revenue Service Volunteer Return Preparation Program Partner of the Year

The IRS recognized the Department of Human Assistance’s participation in providing free tax preparation service to low-income people. 

Bank of America – Local Hero Award

The Department of Human Assistance Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and Foster Grandparent Program were awarded the Bank of America Local Hero Award for making significant impact on individuals, families and the community. 

Oracle Fusion Middleware Innovation Award

At the CalWIN Consortium, the Department of Human Assistance was given the Oracle Fusion Middleware Innovation Award for using Oracle products in cutting-edge ways to benefit the public. 

Heroes of Human Services Award

The Human Services Coordinating Council and Sacramento County Board of Supervisors gave the Heroes of Human Service Award to the Department of Human Services Senior Companion Program for having touched the lives of others through their advocacy, dedication, service and support within Sacramento County. 

Points of Light Award

The Department of Human Assistance Foster Grandparent Program was recognized for its volunteer hours with a Points of Light Award. 

Outstanding Volunteers in County Government

The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors recognized the Department of Human Assistance Retired and Senior Volunteer Program for their volunteers’ service.

Sacramento County Employee Giving Campaign

The Department of Human Assistance was recognized for placing 1st in Tier 3 for its contributions to local and national charitable organizations. 

Richard A. Griesbach Excellence in Concessions Contest - 3rd place, Best Specialty Retail Program Medium and Small Airports

The Excellence in Concessions, Best Specialty Retail Program for Medium and Small Airports was awarded to Sacramento International Airport by the Airports Council International - North America.

Customer Service and Commitment to the South Sacramento Community

Southgate Recreation and Park District Board - Department of Neighborhood Services 

Information Security Award – 2nd place

Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center: Department of Technology 

Best in PIA Class-California Food Policy Advocates

Sacramento County Department of Human Assistance for dedication to fighting hunger. 

Helen Andrus Memorial Award - Sacramento District Dental Society

The County received the award that acknowledges outstanding service and extraordinary achievements to the improvements of dental health needs of children in Sacramento County. 

100 Best Communities for Young People

The Alliance for Youth 100 Best Communities for Young People - Sacramento County 

Litigation Award – California County Counsels’ Association

County Counsel Michele Bach received the award for the preparation of an amicus brief in a general assistance case. 

Digital Counties Survey WinnerDigital Counties Survey - Top-10 Digital County Governments in the Nation

Digital Counties Survey Winner - 7th Place (2010) - Sacramento County

Certificate of Achievement - Government Finance Officers Association

The Department of Finance won the award of Excellence in Financial Reporting for its ​Annual Financial Reporting for the Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2009 

Challenge Merit Award - California State Association of Counties

Department of Human Assistance for Time Management system that streamlined payroll process, improved financial reporting and helped reduce costs 

Recognition Awards Association of Firearms and Toolmark Examiners (AFTE)

District Attorney Crime Lab Criminalists Bruce Moran, Phil Hess, and Leslie Poole received industry recognition as experts in forensic science by the international organization dedicated to the advancement of firearm and toolmark identification in forensic science 

Cappie Award - Sacramento Public Relations Association

The First Five Sacramento annual Children’s Celebration held at Fairytale Town received three CAPPIE awards:

  • International Gala Award for the best festival from California Nevada Festivals and Events Association
  • Gold Award for Your Buck for the Baby Stop tent (which allowed breastfeeding and changing areas)
  • Bronze Award in the category Special Event or Festival
