How to receive automatic news updates using RSS

Inquire about the availability of documents in alternate formats.

Now you can have Sacramento County government news and updates delivered directly to you with RSS (Really Simple Syndication). RSS from the County is free…all you need is a reader. Here's how you can subscribe:

How to Subscribe

Step One: Get a news reader

To receive an RSS feed, you’ll need a news reader (also known as an aggregator). A news reader is a piece of software that:

  • Allows you to select the information you want to subscribe to
  • Displays subscribed information on your desktop or on a web page
  • Updates whenever new subscribed information becomes available

There are many news readers available—some that you can download to your desktop and some that are available through an Internet browser. Some are free, and others are available for purchase. To find a news reader, use an Internet search engine (such as Google) to search for RSS news readers, and select the one that works best for you.

Step Two: Add a Sacramento County RSS feed to your news reader

Once you have installed or signed-up for a news reader you can subscribe to a Sacramento County news feed in one of two ways:

1. Locate the area on your reader that allows you to add new feeds. Select the section of the County Internet you’d like to subscribe to, and copy and paste the corresponding URL below into your reader.
