Sacramento County is focused on sustainability efforts year round; whether it is through the County’s internal operations, helping residents and businesses with their green efforts and building communities around healthy lifestyles, the County is committed to protecting the environment while making the best use of tax dollars.
To provide leadership and momentum for green initiatives, County Executive Bradley J. Hudson holds County Executive Green Team meetings. These meetings bring leadership and departments from Municipal Services, Airports and Internal Services together to plan, coordinate and implement sustainability projects, as well as to discuss best practices, emerging technology, cap and trade updates, pertinent legislation, and the Capital Region Climate Readiness Collaborative. The result of these Executive meetings is evident in the number of indicatives and awards in 2015.
The County’s news section features some of these initiatives including green building, sustainable community elements, recycling, alternative fuels and transportation methods, environmental protection, water and energy conservation, and using nature in small ways – like planting more trees to counter greenhouse gases and advocating for feral cats to naturally reduce rodent infestations.
“I’m extremely proud of all of the County departments who keep sustainability and cost savings I the forefront of their operations,” said County Executive Bradley J. Hudson. “Together, we’ve accomplished a great deal in the last year and their forward-thinking vision and continued effort will continue to serve the County taxpayers well into the future.”
