Due to the remaining bridge repair and construction equipment parked in the area, the Tiscornia Beach Area and parking lot will be CLOSED Memorial Day Weekend through mid-June. The area will re-open once the equipment is removed and the parking lot and beach have been cleaned and deemed safe for public use.
The Jibboom Street Bridge was originally constructed in 1931, and was partially rehabilitated in 1969. This latest repair project was intended to prolong the life of the bridge, which is a key access point across the American River.
Funding for the project was provided through the federal Highway Bridge Program.
