A new TSA Pre✓ enrollment center is now open at Sacramento International Airport. TSA Pre✓ allows flyers to leave on their shoes, light jackets and belt, keep their laptop in its case and keep 3-1-1 compliant liquids, aerosols and gels in a carry-on bag. This expedited screening process for vetted travelers drastically reduces the amount of time spent waiting in the security line.
By pre-enrolling on the PreCheck website, customers can go through the entire process at Sacramento International Airport in 15 minutes or less. The approval process is complete within 30 days … just in time for the busy year-end holiday travel season.
“We welcome this new customer amenity to Sacramento International Airport and thank the TSA for making it available,” said Director of Airports John Wheat. “Having an onsite location is convenient for travelers who are already here and may want to enroll.”
The application center is located in the southeast corner of the ground level of Terminal B, by baggage claim. Hours are 8 a.m. to noon and 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Walk-in customers are accepted and will be accommodated around scheduled appointments. The Universal Enrollment helpline may be reached toll-free at (855) 347-8371.
Applicants may make appointments online at tsa.gov/precheck. Applicants must bring a current U.S. passport or a driver’s license, and an original or certified copy of their birth certificate. Fingerprints will be collected during the in-person appointment.
Once approved, individuals will receive a Known Traveler Number making them eligible to use TSA Pre✓ lanes at airports nationwide. Children 12 and under are permitted to use the TSA Pre✓® lane when traveling with a TSA Pre✓-eligible parent or guardian.
The application fee is $85 and the Known Traveler Number is good for five years. The fee can be paid by credit card, money order, company check, or certified/cashier’s check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted.
Approximately 4 million flyers are already enrolled in the program, said a TSA spokesperson.
