Government Fleet magazine and the American Public Works Association (APWA) announced their Leading Fleets for 2016 including Sacramento County’s Fleet Services. The awards program, sponsored by Ford Motor Company, recognizes operations that are performing at a high level, particularly in fleet leadership, competitiveness and efficiency, planning for the future, and overcoming challenges.
“I’m extremely proud of our entire Fleet Services Team for their hard work and dedication,” said Keith Leech Chief, Fleet Services Division & Parking Enterprise. “Their efforts resulted in Sacramento County being recognized among the Top 50 Leading Government Fleets in the United States!”
About SacCounty Fleet Services:
- Number of On-Highway Vehicles: 2,187
- Number of Off-Highway Vehicles: 113
- Number of Employees: 104
- Number of Maintenance Facilities: 11 (6 light duty & 5 heavy duty shops)
The primary maintenance facility is responsible for more than 50 percent of the County's vehicle maintenance operation with a brand new $1.8 million CNG fuel station that was completed in July, 2015. This station is the first combined times fill/fast fill compressed natural gas fueling station in the Sacramento Region. Though the County has been utilizing liquid natural gas since 2004, this CNG fueling station provides economic benefits allowing drivers to plug in their trucks and walk away.
We also led collaborative efforts to update the County’s Transportation Policy and Climate Action Plan Goals with the following significant revisions.
