In support of National Public Works Week, Sacramento County celebrates its Municipal Services departments and employees for providing and maintaining the services known as “public works.” This year’s theme for Public Works Week, May 17-23, is “Community Begins Here.”
The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors unanimously passed a resolution recognizing the 1,091 employees in Sacramento County’s Municipal Services. Those departments include:
• Animal Care and Regulation
• Community Development
• Regional Parks
• Transportation
• Waste Management and Recycling
• Water Resources
"Public Works Week celebrates Sacramento County professionals who serve the public every day – the unseen employees who work so hard to enhance our quality of life," said Board of Supervisors Chairman Phil Serna.
Since 1960, the American Public Works Association has recognized and sponsored National Public Works Week each May to raise awareness of public works issues and to increase confidence in public works employees who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for present and future generations.
