The Public Technology Institute (PTI) awards a handful of city and county governments each year with the Tech Savvy designation. PTI announced that Sacramento County was awarded with the PTI 2016 Tech Savvy Designation for having proven exceptional talent, great ideas, a spirit of teamwork and collaboration, creativity, technology leadership and proven technology best practices across the entire enterprise.
As one of six local governments designated as Tech Savvy for 2016, Sacramento County met or exceeded in nine criterions for: adhering to a stated standard of ethics and excellence, embracing performance management practices and using data/business intelligence to drive decision-making; providing leadership communication and collaboration around technology solutions; encouraging professional development; implementing a Technology Plan; offering cybersecurity and network security training and awareness; demonstrating a commitment to green technology initiatives; and embracing a culture of technology innovation.
Some of the elements of the County submission of excellence included the creation of 3-1-1, the use of data driven analytics for the Department of Human Assistance, commitment to green technology initiatives, and a progressive training and professional development program for Department of Technology employees. All while maintaining the highest level of integrity and accountability to the constituents of Sacramento County.
