On November 22, the Sacramento County Probation Department partnered with the Board of Supervisors to purchase and deliver a total of 735 turkeys to local food banks just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, with 580 going to the Sacramento County Food Bank. Costco, where the turkeys were purchased, also donated 30 birds to the cause.
To purchase the turkeys, $7,410 was collected and with Costco’s contribution it brought the grand total to $7,910.
The turkeys were delivered to Sacramento Food Bank, Orangevale Food Bank, Liberty Towers Church, Bethany Food Bank and Cordova Community Food Locker.
