What do helium balloons, amalgam separators and sprinkler smart clocks have in common? All three tools helped a local organization win a 2013 Sustainable Business of the Year Award. The awards, presented by the Business Environmental Resource Center (BERC) and coinciding with National Pollution Prevention Month, recognize outstanding achievements in environmentally friendly practices, pollution prevention and resource conservation. This year’s winners include small, large, public and private organizations ranging from a dentist’s office to a California state agency.
At its public meeting on September 10, 2013, the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors honored each winning organization with a resolution recognizing their proactive environmental efforts. In addition, BERC will host the 2013 Annual Sacramento Sustainable Business of the Year Awards on Tuesday, September 17. The event features a continental breakfast, the awards ceremony and two business workshops; How to Conduct a Well-Run Business and Plan to Be Social: Plan to Be Successful. Tickets are only $15.
