The Sacramento community will once again put its money where its heart is to support area nonprofit organizations for the 2015 BIG Day of Giving. The online event to increase philanthropy for local charities will take place from midnight to midnight on Tuesday, May 5. For 24 hours, online donations will be accepted at www.bigdayofgiving.org to support hundreds of nonprofits in the Sacramento region.
The BIG Day of Giving is part of a National Day of Giving called Give Local America.
“The BIG Day of Giving is a chance for residents in the greater Sacramento region to donate to area charitable organizations, which are at the heart of every community,” said Phil Serna, Chairman of the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors. “The philanthropic spirit of the event is an inspiration and a wonderful way to unite in our support of hundreds of nonprofits in the region.”
Most of the activity for the BIG Day of Giving will be displayed on its website at www.bigdayofgiving.org. News and updates about the event will also be posted on social media leading up to the event and throughout the day on May 5. Any individual or business can donate, and donors are encouraged to make gifts to multiple organizations of their choice. The minimum gift amount is $25, and the maximum is $10,000.
