Join a County-wide effort to clean-up and beautify our creeks during Creek Week 2015, where young and old will enjoy, explore, work and learn about protecting our local creeks and aquatic life. There will be plenty of fun and educational activities for the whole family and all ages to enjoy!

Last year, the event pulled nearly 13 tons of garbage from local creeks and removed 40 cubic yards of invasive plants. More than 1,700 volunteers of all ages worked at 81 different clean-up sites along 35 miles of waterways.

The Creek Week SPLASH-OFF event is on April 10th from 11 a.m. to noon at the Discovery Museum Science and Space Center. The event is designed to thank Creek Week 2015 sponsors and supporters and acknowledge all of the people who make Creek Week possible year after year. The annual Creek Steward Award will be presented to Mira Loma High School’s Arcade Creek Project during the festivities.

Saturday, April 18th is Clean-Up Day!

. . . First we clean.  The morning (9 a.m. to noon) is devoted to removing trash and debris in and along our neighborhood creeks.

. . . Then we celebrate!  The fun begins noon at Carmichael Park with a picnic, Blacktop Comedy Entertainment, earth-friendly exhibits and interactive displays. Volunteers will enjoy a free lunch and t-shirt.

Take a look at the complete schedule of events and activities and find out how you can volunteer.

The event is sponsored by the Sacramento Area Creeks Council who preserves, protects, restores and maintains the natural streams in our urban communities through education, advocacy, financial support and technical expertise. Our goal is to educate the general public on the aesthetic, recreational, educational, and ecological value of our urban creeks.
