Most would agree, owning and running a restaurant is hard work and one aspect of that work is ensuring food safety is maintained. To celebrate these efforts, every year the Sacramento County Environmental Management Department (EMD) recognizes Sacramento County food facility operators who have achieved three consecutive health inspections without major violations during National Food Safety Month.
Unannounced inspections are conducted by EMD up to three times a year at food facilities to enforce health code compliance and prevent foodborne illness. These food establishments range from restaurants, retail markets, schools, bakeries and bars, and more than 600 of them countywide earned an Environmental Management Food Safety Award of Excellence certificate.
EMD Director Val Siebal said, “The award recipients have clearly demonstrated a continuous commitment to high standards of food safety in their establishments.”
Of those 600+ honored, one establishment from each of the five Sacramento County supervisorial districts has been chosen to receive their certificate at the September 15 Board of Supervisors meeting.
