If your firm or organization is committed to the environment and practices energy conservation, waste reduction and/or pollution prevention type programs, apply for a 2013 Sacramento Sustainable Business of the Year Award sponsored by the Business Environmental Resource Center (BERC) by July 31, 5 p.m. An awards ceremony will be held on September 17 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel for special recognition of exceptional efforts to be green and sustainable.
Awards are available for both small/non-profits and large businesses in the following categories:
Energy Conservation; Transportation & Air Quality; Water Conservation; Solid Waste Reduction; Green Building; and Pollution Prevention

According to Clark Whitten, BERC Division Chief, “Sacramento County has been recognizing companies that use sustainable business practices at an annual award event that started back in 1995. The awards program is a great way to recognize businesses that have embraced environmental programs and integrated green and sustainable practices into their everyday work environment.”
The Sacramento Area Sustainable Business Program promotes businesses that adopt environmentally friendly practices, prevent pollution, and conserve resources. The annual awards event honors top performers who have implemented outstanding programs in Energy Conservation, Water Conservation, Pollution Prevention, Solid Waste Reduction, Green Building and Transportation/Air Quality.
